Squirrels are best browned and then simmered slowly with moisture like pork chops. So I saute mine after rolling in seasoned flour and then simmering in tomatoes or brown gravy or beer or wine until tender.... about 1 to 1/12 hours. Thicken the liquid with flour and serve with rice or potatoes and veggie of choice.

Slow cooker with kroger steak seasoning. Then shred and make into stew. Use the juices from slow cooker.

Brave? You just didn't grow up poor. Deer 30 years ago was a poor food that most people did'nt eat either. Squirrel is just fine but needs to cook slowly over low heat to get tender.

cut it up, bread it and fry it in some grease just long enough to brown the breading so it stays on. add 1 can of your favorite beer to a crock pot and then put the meat in on top of a steamer basket to keep it up off the bottom. let the beer steam it all day and have for dinner. we call it drunken squirrel and it's yummy. works for turtle too. ditto on the slow cooking.
