Rough times ahead. I just came back from military deployment and injuries I recieved from my prior tour have taken it's toll and I have been diagnosed with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome). CRPS is malfunctioning of the nervous system in which you feel constant pain from aggravating to severe. It is non curable and almost always caused by a rather minor injury that it is not taken care of (stress fracture in the foot in 2006 while I was in Afghanistan). I have just recieved word back that the military is forcing seperation without possibility of military retirement. This is very difficult because for the past 10 years this is all I have known. I plan to appeal this decision and fight to gain my medical retirement but it is what is coming that scares me the most. I had no work experience prior to joining the military except as a ranch hand and I dont plan on the life of a cowboy anymore. I find little comfort in my degree because the concentration was in a direction I can no longer take because of my disability. Sorry for the rant but all my friends are military and they just don't understand why I cannot suit up so I had no other place to vent among friends.

So please pray that my appeal goes well and I am able to recieve my medical retirement and that god may guide me down his chosen path. Thankfully my arms can still pull back the athens.

I'm pulling for ya brother!  On a side note. MANY employeers give preferance to current or former military personel. If your appeal is denied, keep your head up and looking forward!  Jobs are out there and I'm sure there are or will eventually be effective treartments for your condition.

Good luck jason!

WOW.

I didnt know that they could try to do that to you! I am sure that your apeal will go well, heck they let vets with out limbs stay. I have a feeling that the " draw down" has something to do with it. I know there is alot of talk about chapter for pt and over weight. trying to cut #'s for some reason. With a doc's diagnosis I cant see that they could chapter you. please keep your head up. god will provide for you and will show you the way.

if you are not married there is always kbr or mpri
request re-class?
be good brother and my family will pray for you

A friend of mine was suffering from 18 stress fractured because his body stopped producing calcium and he had to fight to get his retirement. He was in 15 years and had a hard time walking with a cane the military would only rate his foot fractures eventhough the entire body was affected he was only found to be 20 percent disabled initally. Now that he is out he is recieving better medical care and is recovering nicely unfortunatly mine is still untreatable so it's in God's hands now.

Thank you all. I have asked the Disabled American Veterans to be my representation at my formal hearing here is to hoping my medical records are in order and complete and the DAV wants to help. On an upside I finally get to live somewhere I want to. Now I just have to decide where has the best hunting.

I'm usually not much for words, especially when it comes to prayer, but in my days I have one scripture that has stuck with me and I believe that it fits us all...Matthew 21:22 "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Zeus trying times always remind me of the book of Job and a quick read always bring me back to my faith.

UPDATE: My appeal was somewhat sucessful. I was given permanent retirement with medical benefits for myself and my family and a small pension. Unfortunatly the appeal board did not include numerous problems that would increase my level of disability. They chose not to include my constant muscle spasms of the loss of function of my right foot.

Now I just have to figure out what to do when I get out. Anyone got a job for a guy with a bachelors degree in Forensics?
